Maggie’s Aberdeen was built in 2013. It is a white building in the shape of a pebble or shell and offers warmth and a feeling of safety and protection to all its visitors.
Maggie’s Centres in collaboration with the Elizabeth Montgomerie Foundation appointed award winning Norwegian architects Snohetta and Halliday Fraser Munro to create Maggie’s Aberdeen.
The brief was to create a unique space in which Maggie’s professional oncology staff can deliver their programme of emotional and practical support to people affected by cancer. Snøhetta came up with the dynamic vision of a broken pebble which Halliday Fraser Munro then turned into the reality of a completed building.
