The building will create a “hub” in the city centre; a sheltered, versatile, gathering place able to accommodate daily markets and special events. Easy, safe and clear pedestrian linkages are created between Union Street, Market Street and The Green. The open market area will interact with the public space of the Green while the enclosed food hall provides new street activity to Market Street and a covered, flexible events space.
