3D Architecture & Visualisation Rendering
3D Architecture & Visualisation Rendering
At Halliday Fraser Munro, we were among the very earliest adopters of building information modelling (BIM) software. Our founding partner, John Halliday, saw its potential to transform the way clients, planners and the general public see and understand our design proposals. Where once we had to rely on simple 2D plans and expensive physical models, BIM technology has empowered us to create 3D architectural visualisations that bring projects to life in staggering detail and which we can render with photographic levels of accuracy. The quality of these visualisations is critical in winning the support of clients, developers and their investors as well as planners and the wider public.
Rendering imagination real
Our longstanding commitment to BIM is reflected in our ability to deploy it to maximum effect. Using the very latest CGI software, we can create virtual reality (VR) models of our projects that enable clients, investors and end-users to experience the building as if it were real. We can show how the sun will interact with the building through the day, experiment with different colour finishes and even work with specialists to demonstrate the acoustics in different parts of the building. This level of detail helps build the trust of everyone involved in the project, it allows design decisions to be made with greater confidence and generates a clear, shared, vision of the architectural design.
Designing in all three dimensions
Modelling in 3D isn’t just about producing amazing images and VR, walk-through experiences for clients. It transforms the way we approach a project. Because BIM is embedded in our practice, we deploy it from the very earliest stages of the design process. This gives us greater perspective on the project, heightening our ability to identify issues, efficiencies and opportunities throughout the design and building processes.
Building a clearer picture of the construction process
BIM technology allows us to demonstrate the construction process to clients and contractors using stage-by-stage animations which layer each of the structural, technical and material components chronologically so they can see precisely how the building will take shape over time. This level of detailed visual information is invaluable in driving cost and time efficiencies over the course of the build. Our BIM systems capture all the data needed to output 2D plans which can also be made available for clients and contractors who need to use these on site or for any other purpose.
Creating a vision for the future
3D BIM models are invaluable visual reference tools for all those tasked with running and maintaining the building over its lifetime. They streamline the handover and commissioning processes and provide a central asset for the facilities manager. The model will help ensure that the building is maintained to operate as sustainably and efficiently as possible. Ultimately, it will provide all the information needed to repurpose or dismantle the building with minimal impact at the end of its life.
